I usually don't remember having dreams at night, but I have been having some very strange ones lately. The other night I dreamt that George Clooney was after me with a stun gun. First of all, I'm not even a big George Clooney fan. I mean I'm not blind, I get it, but he's not someone I pay much attention to. Anyway, he was after me with a stun gun and I was trapped on an entire floor of a hotel or office building and I was just frantically trying to get away. Number 1-George, you don't need the stun gun. I will surrender. Number 2 - Why was I running?!

George! Come back! I'll leave the door open!

The cupcake bakery Sprinkles has arrived in Houston! It was the first cupcake bakery and the first shop was in Beverly Hills. Sprinkles is very big in LA and it has finally arrive in Houston. I tried one (OK a few) yesterday and they were yummy. They are a cross between Crave and Dessert Gallery. They are not as sweet and sugary as Dessert Gallery cake but a little more sweet and sugary than Crave cupcakes. They are not as dense as Crave cupcakes but they have pretty much the same look. The store is super tiny and they aren't cheap, but definitely worth trying! The store is on Westheimer in Highland Village, across from Crate and Barrel. Yum!

Fudge Jumbles!

Can someone please tell me they remember Fudge Jumbles. It was a mix you bought at the store that made these cookie/cake type brownies. So good! Very 80s. No one I asks remembers, so to make sure I wasn't imagining things, I did a search and found this link about them. At least I know someone remembers them now and they really did exist! Someone posted this recipe for those of us that miss Fudge Jumbles. I haven't tried it yet but I plan to soon.

FUDGE JUMBLIES RECIPE
1 c. butter
2 c. brown sugar
2 eggs
2 tsp. vanilla
2 1/2 c. flour
1 tsp. soda
1 tsp. salt
3 c. quick oatmeal
1 can sweetened condensed milk
1 (12 oz.) pkg. chocolate chips
2 tbsp. butter
1/2 tsp. salt
1 c. chopped walnuts
2 tsp. vanilla

Cream butter and brown sugar. Add eggs and mix. Add vanilla. Sift flour, soda and salt, stir. Add oatmeal and stir. Spread 2/3 of mixture in a greased 9 x 12 pan. Melt in microwave sweetened milk, chocolate chips, butter, salt. Stir in nuts and vanilla. Pour over mixture in pan. Drop remaining dough in dots over chocolate mixture. Bake at 350 degrees for 25 minutes.

Cake balls that is! I am a little behind with this trend. I know I read an article about them a while back but never really thought about it again. Well my cousin made some and brought a few over yesterday and they are delicious! I can't wait to make some! They pretty much consist of torn up cake mashed together with frosting which are formed into balls and dipped in chocolate. You can use a store bought cake mix, a tub of frosting and chocolate bark for melting. Simple, yet yummy! Click here for the recipe she used. I just got back from New York City and I visited one of my favorite places while I was there, Rice to Riches. It sells flavored rice pudding! OK if that doesn't sound good to you, it didn't to me either the first time I went. I have never liked rice pudding, but once I had it there I was hooked. This time I had Almond Shlamond. Just a few of their flavors include Take me to Tiramisu, Sex Drugs and Rocky Road, Chocolate Chip Flirt, Cocunut Coma, Cinnamon Sling and Fluent in French Toast. It is set up like an ice cream shop and they even have toppings. The pudding also comes in the cutest reusable containers. You really should stop in if you are in New York City's SoHo area!

Product Recommendation: Olay Regenerist Night Recovery Cream

I haven't been so good about washing my face and taking care of my skin at night since having a child. It's just too hard and I'm always too tired. I just want to get in bed when I'm done running after a 2 year old all day! I decided I better get on it since I'm getting older and I think I'm getting older faster after having a kid! So, I went looking for something to use at night but it had to be something that would make me want to use it. I also refuse to buy expeisnve department store creams. I found this great night cream that is the prettiest lavender color! Yes the color is what does it for me. I love lavender. Whatever makes me use it! Also, the word regenerist in the name makes me imagine it is regenerating my youth while I sleep. Great marketing! I know it's all in my head, but whatever works. It says you will wake up with the look of a mini-lift. I don't know about that, but it is a great night moisturizer. It makes my skin feel and look great. I would recommend it if you are looking for a new moisturizer to fight off those wrinkles, smooth your skin, and add a little lavender to your life.

If you are also too lazy to pour face cleanser into your hand (which I often am), these are great too...Regenerist Micro-Derm Cleaning Cloths.

Vegetarian Chili Recipe

I made this last week and it was really good. I added some tobasco and crumbled up baked tostitos and shredded cheese on top.

Ingredients:

1/2 cup water

3 garlic cloves, minced

1 small red or green pepper, seeded and diced

1 8-ounce package vegetarian ground beef substitute

1 28-ounce can crushed tomatoes

1 15-ounce can kidney beans, undrained
1 15-ounce can corn, undrained

2 tablespoons chili powder

1 teaspoon ground cumin

Directions:

Heat water in a large pot. Add garlic. Cook about 5 minutes.

Add bell pepper and ground beef substitute. Mix in tomatoes, beans and their liquid, corn and its liquid, chili powder, and cumin. Cover and simmer over medium heat, stirring occasionally, for 20 minutes.

Potty Training

We potty trained my daughter over the holiday break. We are still working on it a little but I thought I'd share a few of my favorite potty training items. This potty seat is the best thing I have purchased for potty training.It is from One Step Ahead. I never really understood those little potties. I sure don't want to clean one all the time and then they would have to transition to the big potty at some point, so I think this is perfect. My daughter can easily climb on all by herself. She even puts it on and takes it off by herself.

The other item I love is this potty training reward chart that my friend gave us.

You can find it here. It's great because it is not by the day or week. You put stickers on as you go along, and it comes with a ton of really cute stickers.

I discovered a great Etsy shop over the holidays. Jamie's Jewels (Jayval on Etsy) had the perfect simple leaf necklace I had been looking for, so my mother bought it for me for Christmas. I love it! I layer it with a shorter necklace and it is a great everyday piece of jewelry. You will find more wonderful jewelry in Jamie's shop and her pieces can even be found at the Noyes Museum of Art in Oceanville, New Jersey. My mom said the customer service was excellent and the shipping was prompt even during the busy holidays. It came packaged ready for gift giving with a ribbon and little rose. A Chorus Line

I went to see this musical last night and it was great. I love A Chorus Line. I saw the movie a long time ago before I ever saw it on the stage. Now I want to go rent the movie again because I haven't seen it in years. If you love dancing and the 80s (which I do!), you will love the movie. It came out in 1985 and stars Michael Douglas. If you don't know, the movie is based on the 1975 stage production of A Chorus Line. It is the story of a group of dancers auditioning for a chorus line and Michael Douglas plays the director. Check it out!

OK this shoe is not so much hot as it is cute, so we are going with cute shoe of the week this week. I was out looking for some boots, which are hard to find by the way since winter is almost over. I was at DSW where there used to be five aisles of boots and now there is only one. I guess I waited too long. They had tons of sandals out though so I thought I'd check those out before they are all gone. I bought this sandal and it is much cuter in person than in the photo. I highly recommend this book, even though I just started reading it! Who doesn't want to be happier, and if you think you are just as happy as you can be, good for you! I don't believe you, but whatever. The author, Gretchen Rubin, decided she had a great life but just knew there were little things she could do to make her happier and make her life better. The changes she describes are just little common sense things, nothing too deep, anything from organizing closets to jumping in the air to exercising regularly. They are things you probably already know you would like to do but reading them how she explains them may inspire you to actually do them. While I was staring at the photo of these on the computer screen and deciding if they should be the hot shoe of the week, my husband walked in, glanced at the screen and said, "Ooh, those are crazy" and that was the deciding factor. One of our customer's purchased 5 of our pregnancy announcements to share the good news that she and her husband were expecting. She had both sets of grandparents-to-be and her sisters all open them at the same time on Christmas morning. What a great idea!

OK this show is my latest addiction. If you don't know what Glee is, leave this blog immediately and go watch episodes of it online. I can't stop watching it! I had heard great things about it, but I just didn't have time to add another TV show to my long list of reality show addictions. Now that most shows are over and everything is reruns, I decided to watch an episode. Love at first watch! I watched all the episodes available on hulu.com and now I am catching up on reruns on Wednesday nights. Two episodes every Wednesday! If you are thinking I have a problem, you are correct and I am well aware of it. I am a TV addict, but I do it late at night when no one is watching. That makes it OK, right? Anyway, it is a great show. It has the high school drama story line, quirky funny characters and great music and singing. I suggest you check it out if you haven't already.

Instead, I will share a Christmas miracle with you... My 2 1/2 year old slept until 8:15 today. EIGHT FIFTEEN! She always wakes up between 6:45 and 7:30. I probably haven't slept past 8:00 in 2 1/2 years. The joy is unexplainable, but let me try. It's like sitting in Johnny Depp's lap while it is raining cupcakes.
